ITOGON, Benguet — Tourist arrivals are fast increasing in the municipality after various events were conducted to attract more visitors to the
Municipal Tourism Action Officer Flordeliza Diase said 100,000 tourists visited the town in 2010 while initial tourist arrivals this 2012 has
ballooned to around 800,000.
Diase attributed the increase to the improvement of road networks, word of mouth from tourists who visited the town previously and the non–stop promotion of the local government on the town’s tourist spots.

Diase said the municipality has an old American structure and historical church which is the most admired places of most of the tourists.
Councilor Roberto Pacio, chair of committee on tourism, said the municipality posted P150 million from tourism activities during the last quarter of 2011.
At present, the municipality allotted half million to support programs on tourism.
Pacio and Diase invite local and foreign tourists to visit the town this summer and participate in their different activities. Some of these activities include the Mt. Ugo Trek which will start on March 30 until April 1. Other climbs in the different mountains will also be conducted.
